Very Large Hadron Collider R&d
نویسنده
چکیده
This article discusses the present state of R&D for a postLHC very large hadron collider (VLHC). Such a machine can be built with today’s technology; the thrust of the R&D is to reduce the cost of the machine, through development of new ideas and utilization of new technologies. R&D issues in the areas of accelerator physics, magnets, and general accelerator technologies, will be reviewed. Finally, the outlook for future R&D will be presented.

متن کاملR&d for Future Detectors
Detector R&D is advancing on many fronts of experimental particle physics, including efforts to produce massive, highly efficient, costeffective detectors for future neutrino experiments, for experiments requiring high bandwidth and high precision, such as hadron B factories, rare kaon decay experiments, and tau/charm factories, and for linear collider experiments. In recent years, the needs of...
متن کاملN ov 1 99 2 Multiple W L Production From Inelastic W L W L Scattering At √ ŝ ≫
We explore the inelastic production of multiple longitudinal weak bosons as a manifestation of a strongly interacting symmetry breaking sector. By analogy with QCD, final states with large multiplicities are expected to occur not far above the energy scale of the lowest resonances of the underlying strong theory. We consider the feasibility of observing such phenomena in the environment of a ve...
متن کاملNLO QCD corrections to hadronic Higgs production with heavy quarks
The production of a Higgs boson in association with a pair of tt̄ or bb̄ quarks plays a very important role at both the Tevatron and the Large Hadron Collider. The theoretical prediction of the corresponding cross sections has been improved by including the complete next-to-leading order QCD corrections. After a brief description of the most relevant technical aspects of the calculation, we revie...
متن کاملReally Large Hadron Colliders*
This paper presents two possible approaches to a post-LHC hadron collider. The parameters and some of the accelerator physics issues of the two designs are discussed, followed by comments on the challenges involved in the technical systems. Major issues for further study and R&D are listed in the conclusion.
